Our Pasilla Mixe Sauce is made with the pasilla mixe chile, a rare variety grown only in a small region of the state of Oaxaca. Its deep and smoky flavor is a must-try to add a tasty twist to dishes that could use some richness. To make our Pasilla Mixe sauce, we have partnered with a community of farmers in San Pedro Jilotepec to help support their small, traditional community and ensure the survival of this endangered chile.
Serving Suggestion
The Pasilla Mixe sauce goes great with roasted meats, hearty stews, beans, and of course tacos. Its unique, smoky flavor and moderate level of spice makes it a great choice for eating dinner with friends. Try using it as an ingredient in a BBQ sauce – just add some honey and vinegar, and voila!
